We have decided that Toledo is indeed our favorite city so far in Spain! But Barcelona comes in a close second. Toledo is full of history, having been part of the Spanish, Roman and Arab empire at some point. It is a city that Jews, Christians and Muslims have shared for many centuries and the architecture resembles the blending of these cultures. We enjoyed strolling and window shopping in the narrow quintessential classic brick alleys. The area is filled with Mediterranean vegetation including fig trees, cypress trees amongst grape vines amongst others. San Martin bridge which was built in the 14th century is an impressive structure. We walked this bridge a few times and took some breath-taking pictures. Overall, today was cold and wet but we have placed Toledo as a city we must visit again (preferably in the summer!).
wow, toledo is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteit's going to take me some time to catch up on this! Saw a few comments about slowing down, and very much in favor of that. Going to the park, or even the laundrymat can be an adventure as you have probably already figured out.
